In The Street Festival -
SASMM will once again be joining everyone in Downtown Frederick for the In The Street Festival. Held September 11 from 11am to 5pm. Be sure to come and check out our tent!

 

2010 Celtic Festival

The planning continues for our 2010 Frederick Celtic Festival!

In our 11th year, the Frederick Celtic Festival is turning into one of Maryland's premier Celtic events!

Who is St. Andrew?

According to legend, an angel told a monk, St. Rule (Regulus), in a dream to move the bones of St. Andrew from Constantinople to "the ends of the earth". He did so, removing a tooth, arm bone, knee cap and some fingers, and headed towards Scotland.

He shipwrecked off the east coast of Scotland, and built a chapel in a Pictish settlement to house the relics. This settlement later became known as St. Andrews. The chapel was replaced by the Cathedral of St. Andrew in 1160, and St. Andrews became the religious capital of Scotland.

Below are the forthcoming events for 2010. We will be updating often, as we get dates and venues for our events.

Some possible future events include: Golf Tournament, Crab Fest, "Don't Say the 'F' Word Party ("F" estival!) cook out and mock-drive in, Bull and Oyster Roast, Mini-Golf Tournament, Music and / or Movie in the Park (Baker Park), Bus Trip (Charlestown or Atlantic City), Carnival "Booze" Cruise, St. Andrew's Pub Party. We love suggestions! If you have any ideas, please them to Genny.

1st -After Festival Meeting -held at the Frederick Masonic Hall.

September
11th - Frederick's In The Street Festival - Once again we will be joining many other Frederick area groups -and everyone else! - In The Street! Please join us from 11am to 5pm! We will be running the SASMM tent all day! Please contact Genny if you have any questions.
12th -Board Meeting -Location to be announced. The BoD meeting will be held at 1pm. Contact Genny for more information.

October

November
13th - SASMM AGM Meeting- All members are welcome and encouraged to join us at our AGM Meeting. We will go over the years successes, trials and tribulations, then check out plans for the next year. We will also be voting in our Board members for 2011. Please contact Genny if you have any questions.

December

17th - Ladies Tea and Laddies Uisge Beath- Tenative date!! Contact Genny for more information.
31st - Hogmanay Dance- In conjuction with the Frederick Scottish Country Dancers, SASMM will be having a Hogmanay Dance at the Walkersville Town Hall. 8:30pm - Midnight, $5.00 admission. Everyone is welcome! This will be a fun event with easy dance instructions to welcome the New Year. Please contact Dorothy for more information.
