Glengarry Bhoys
"We are a Celtic band. We are a proud Celtic band. We make no excuses and don't apologize for playing just Celtic music or self-penned songs based / premised on Celtic instrumets - never straying too far from the music from whence we came. We predominantly play Celtic festivals, events and concerts. We advertise ourselves as a Celtic group. Not rock, pop, experimental, maritime, wishy-washy-maybe-somewhat-celtic. We don't do cover songs with a little bit of Celtic background. We are simply and shall remain, henceforth and always, a band that plays Glengarry style of Celtic music."
IONA
IONA's music is a unique, acoustic weave of the traditional music of Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, Brittany (France), the Isle of Man and Galicia (Spain). Blending songs, dance tunes, and aires into a rich and stunning tapestry, their style is outstanding in an arena where these traditions are seldom intertwined.
An IONA show is known for:
1. Traditional Celtic Material The haunting songs, toe tapping dances and the humor of the Celtic peoples from Scotland to Brittany provide IONA with an incredibly varied repertoire.
2. Original Acoustic Arrangements. All the members of the band play several instruments, often switching within a piece to achieve their unique sound. They weave tunes from different countries around their songs, pursuing complex rhythms with deft professionalism.
3. Lively Entertaining Presentation. Above all, IONA's performances are FUN! Barbara and Bernard teach audiences words to their songs (some in Celtic languages!), lead them in clapping and even encourage them to dance!
Rant & Roar
Armed with only Drum and Mandolin, Rant and Roar delivers ancient songs of the sea with the energy of a rockband. This music will energize and reinvigorate your soul. Grab some Grog, ale, whiskey, or anything with alcohol in it- and get bunch of friends and belt out some tunes with Rant and Roar. These are songs made by men, for manly men, to sing while they fight to get a living from the sea.
Wherligig
Performing together since 1985, Wherligig has delighted and educated audiences in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States with the earthy sounds of acoustic Celtic and Nordic music.
Wherligig's wide-ranging repertoire, drawn from the Celtic and Nordic traditions of Ireland, Scotland, Cape Breton, Quebec, Sweden, Finland, England, and Wales, has delighted audiences for years in venues as diverse as classrooms, restaurants, festivals, weddings, parties, and the concert stage.
Please see our events schedule page for band schedules and we hope you enjoy the shows!!
