Celtic Festival News
The 2008 Frederick Celtic Festival will be held on Saturday, May 10th, 2008, at the Urbana VFD Fairgrounds.
The Festival will begin at 10:00am and go until 6:00pm. Vendors will begin closing their stalls then, and the evening concert starts at 7:00pm.
Enter the Haggis and Hunting McLeod will both be performing at the 08 Celtic Festival!!

Highland games are scheduled thorughout the day.

Evening Concert
The evening concert will be from 7:00pm to 10:00pm, and admission is included with your festival ticket.
You can also buy a ticket just for the concert for $10.00.
2007's Honored Clan - Clan Lindsay
Every year we pick a clan from the 30 or more that join us at the Festival, helping you find out about your clan and tartan. We choose the Honored Clan based on a combination of criteria - original / best looking tent set-up, amount of information provided, hospitality, and Celtic heritage representation - to name a few.
This years Honored Clan is Clan Lindsay!
Motto: Endure Fort (Endure Strongly)
Lindsay is a noble name and has proved to be quite illustrious, when only the facts are given that are backed up by Charter evidence. This evidence starts with Walter de Lindeseia, who sat as a member of Prince David's council in the Scottish borders (Cumbria) along with other Norman Knights in the early part of the 12th century. When this Prince became King of Scotland, he placed these Knights as Great Barons in the power structure. Walter was given Ercildoune (Earlston) first and later Luffness and Crawford.
Walter was followed by two Williams in the ordinary line of succession.

Clan Donald is one of the oldest, and possibly the most famous of the Highland Clans. Its Celtic heritage goes back into antiquity, beyond the 6th Century AD, to the great clans in what today is Ireland, Conn of the 100 Battles, Cairfre Raida, founder of Dal Raida in Antrim, Eire, and Colla Uathais. Our Viking heritage goes back to Ingiald "Ill-Ruler" and Olaf "Tree-Hewer" in 7th Century Sweden and Norway.
All of these traditional blood lines came together in the 12th Century Somerled MacGillebride MacGilladamnan, the historic founder of Clann Domhnaill. Our ancestors were regarded as the heads of the ancient race of Conn, and the lineal heirs of the kings of the Dalriadic Scots...
