We wanted to extend our thanks to all of our volunteers and committee members!
The Festival wouldn't be possible without the hard work of our volunteers - on the day of the Festival, and all the weeks leading up to it :)!!
In 2010 the Frederick Celtic Festival teamed up with the American Cancer Society. We gifted a portion of each ticket sold and the Saint Andrew's Society of Mid-Maryland donated over $1000.00!
Thank you for supporting the Frederick Celtic Festival AND the American Cancer Society!!
Frederick Scottish Pipes and Drums
It's our great pleasure to have the Frederick Scottish Pipes and Drums, returning as our Host Band for their sixth year. Since 1998 this growing organization has won numerous awards and has performed in parades, festivals, inaugurations and private events under the leadership of Pipe Major David Throne. If you are interested in learning the pipes, drums or joining the bad, please check out our website.
MacMillan Pipe Band
The MacMillan Pipe Band was organized as the “Alumni Pipe Band” to mark the 40th Anniversary of the Rockville High School Pipe Band during the 33rd Annual National Capital Area Scottish Festival in May of 2001. The band is a “home” for the alumni of the two schools (Rockville and Peary), and an organization for recent pipe band graduates to join. It is also another option for other area pipers and drummers who may wish to join. The MacMillan Pipe Band will continue to honor the memory of D.B. MacMillan while celebrating “Two Schools, One Tradition.”
Rockville High School Pipe Band
Originally formed in 1961 at Robert E. Peary High School, Rockville, Marylnad the Pipe Band was the first and only high school pipe band in the state of Maryland. (A second high school pipe band would later form at Calvert High School in Prince Frederick, MD.) The Band remained at Peary High School until 1984, when it was closed down. As the 1984-85 academic year began, the Pipe Band, as well as many of the Peary students and special programs, was moved to Rockville High School.
